Andrey V. Zverev – The last finance minister of the Soviet Union

    Prof. Dr. Andrey V. Zverev was born on December 24th, 1955 in Orekhovo-Zuevo, Moscow Region. He graduated from the Moscow School of Finance (1978) and the Moscow School of Law (1986). He received his Ph. D. in Economics (1981) and a Doctor of Economics and is a professor at the Russian Plechanov Business Academy in Moscow.


    Prof. Dr. Zverev is the author of numerous works and monographs.
    After his employment with the State Bank Administration and the State Planning Commission of the Soviet Union, he was Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Soviet Republic from 1990 to 1992 and, in the meantime, First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Soviet Union.


    He then worked as the head of the economic department of the Government Office of Russia, vice-president of the Russian oil and gas company „Slavneft“ and as the head of the supervisory department of the Audit Office of the Russian Federation.


    He then headed the Analytical Center at the Government of the Russian Federation.


    In February 2009 Prof. Dr. Zverev appointed Head of the Trade and Economic Office with the rank of Envoy of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Federal Republic of Germany.
